I remember that very line from the band Immolation. I think it was terrible, that while I was in the rescue mission, “recovery” program. I had one ear into my satanic death metal, and the other listening to the teachings of the bible. Add to the fact, dealing with and helping the homeless community.
I always did enjoy that album, I loved listening to Immolation and other bands like them. I think honestly looking back on some of these songs and lyrics, I actually am not all that offended. It seems like a lot of their hate was for the catholic church, and with religion. Well, actually no, that is a stretch.
Anyway all of that, has nothing to do with what I am talking about. Except for the topic at hand, and that is the word father.
The verse of focus for me is: Matthew 23:9
I had the opportunity recently to be able to see my biological dad. He helped provide transporation for me to get to my past court dates.
I do call him father, he is my earthly father. Nothing can change that, not his sin, not his abandoning my mom. Nothing he can do will change the fact that he is my biological dad.
Me and him, don’t see everything eye to eye, and his Catholicism. Is probably the biggest obstacle I can see.
Life and my own lifestyle, have required me to break myself down. To accept and adapt.
But anyway, this has less to do with my relationship with my dad. And more to do with God. More importantly, the catholic church and their priests and practitioners having other humans call them, “father”.
Of all things to divide for me the biggest is lgbtq, muslims and satanist… philosophy nuts and nihilists/atheists.
BOTTOM LINE! God sent Christ to die for us. Anything and anyone who distracts us from that fact. Is something I wouldn’t invest in, or want anything to do with.
