My awareness and naivety sometimes surprise me. Especially in this modern age. Its not uncommon for me to be unaware of an obvious object or attraction, when it might be quite literally under my nose. While not exactly the case with this band, they are no strangers to me or to Michigan.
I became accustomed to the two bands Feast Eternal and Secretion early. They were maybe my earliest idea of Michigan death metal.
And as I made myself as clear as possible earlier, this is by no means authoritative or an objective guide to Michigan death metal. I offer only a rare glimpse of the bands I learned about.
There was maybe one other band that I remember from Detroit, I think their name was Saprogenic.
Out of these three aforementioned bands, the only one that I am aware active is Secretion. And that is just from speaking with Shawn himself on facebook, on rare occasion.
And as I am gathering to a close, I am now remembering of course Voluntary Mortification, a band not strange to none other than Lansing, itself!
so see while this is just a small example, I am sure if we shake out the state a bit. There be in the 100s of different rare and obscure death metal bands from the mitten.
